I have a great idea – OK, it’s not great, but it is an idea. If any morning devotional is helpful to you, please take two minutes and forward it on to some people with whom you want to share the Gospel. We have to think more about getting out of ourselves and letting God use us to help people we love with the Good news of Jesus. It’s just a thought.

Words like loser, failure, defeated, and spiritual wimp do NOT describe us, right?! We’re overcomers, triumphant victors who never give up, right?! We are winning every day, and like Paul, when we get to the end of the road of life we will say,  For I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my departure has come. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith; in the future there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day; and not only to me, but also to all who have loved His appearing” (II Timothy 4:6-8). And, like Paul, we also believe, “If God is for us, who is against us”? (Roman 8:31). Why in the world should we have a “give up” spirit?! Why should we be shaking in our boots when James 2:19 says Satan and the demons are the ones who are shuttering?! Let’s charge forward in this life with the confidence David had when he took on Goliath. We are sick and tired of Satan messing with our minds. We need to apply Paul’s words to Timothy onto ourselves, For God has not given us a spirit of timidity, but of power and love and discipline” (II Timothy 1:7). Full speed ahead with our (spiritual)guns a blazing. God is on our side, and more importantly, we are on God’s side; consequently, we will not fear or back down because the powerful name of Jesus and the Holy Spirit work in our lives. Read I John 2:13-14; 4:4; 5:4-5; Revelation 7:9-17, grab yourself a tissue, and listen to the song Overcomer by Mandisa. Then charge forward with a beautiful day close to Jesus.

1 John 2:13-14

I am writing to you, fathers,
    because you know him who is from the beginning.
I am writing to you, young men,
    because you have overcome the evil one.

I write to you, dear children,
    because you know the Father.
I write to you, fathers,
    because you know him who is from the beginning.
I write to you, young men,
    because you are strong,
    and the word of God lives in you,
    and you have overcome the evil one.

1 John 4:4

You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.

1 John 5:4-5

for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. Who is it that overcomes the world? Only the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God.

Revelation 7:9-17

After this I looked, and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and before the Lamb. They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands. And they cried out in a loud voice:

“Salvation belongs to our God,
who sits on the throne,
and to the Lamb.”

All the angels were standing around the throne and around the elders and the four living creatures. They fell down on their faces before the throne and worshiped God, saying:

Praise and glory
and wisdom and thanks and honor
and power and strength
be to our God for ever and ever.

Then one of the elders asked me, “These in white robes—who are they, and where did they come from?”

I answered, “Sir, you know.”

And he said, “These are they who have come out of the great tribulation; they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. Therefore,

“they are before the throne of God
    and serve him day and night in his temple;
and he who sits on the throne
    will shelter them with his presence.
‘Never again will they hunger;
    never again will they thirst.
The sun will not beat down on them,’
    nor any scorching heat.
For the Lamb at the center of the throne
    will be their shepherd;
‘he will lead them to springs of living water.’
    ‘And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.’”

Spread the love
