Brent Willson
I was born and raised in Wichita Falls, Texas and was brought up attending Faith Village Church of Christ. My parents taught me the gospel at a young age and I was baptized by the preaching minister at Faith Village, Paul McClung. After graduating from SH Rider High School in 1980, I moved to Lubbock to attend Lubbock Christian College and Texas Tech University to study Architecture.
While attending both schools simultaneously, I met my wife to be, Connie Roberts, at LCC and we were married in 1983. After graduating from Texas Tech in 1985 with a Bachelors in Architecture, we lived in Lubbock until 1986. Our first child Christa, was born in Lubbock shortly after my graduation. In June of 1986, our family moved to Wichita Falls where I began work as in intern architect for Wingler and Sharp Architects. In 1988, our second child, Keith, was born. Upon moving to Wichita Falls, Connie and I place membership at Faith Village Church of Christ where we were both active in the work of the church. In 1991 I was asked to serve as Deacon and did so until I was asked to serve as an Elder in 2010. Our children both attended and graduated from Oklahoma Christian University and they currently live in Oklahoma City. We are very blessed to be grand parents of two beautiful granddaughters.
In 2013, due to a job change, Connie and I moved to the Dallas area where I began work with HKS Architects. Immediately upon our arrival in Dallas, we diligently began our search for a church home. We know that God led us to Walnut Hill, to a loving church family where we were immediately welcomed, and a place where we could serve God. In the spring of 2015, I was honored to be asked to become a Shepherd of this faithful congregation. At Walnut Hill, we seek to save the lost and mature the saved, all to the glory of God.

“I was raised on a farm near Casa Arkansas and ultimately found my way to Harding University majoring in Bible and minoring in Speech. I graduated with a BA degree in Bible and later received my master’s degree from Harding Graduate School. Later while, living in Australia, I attended the Melbourne College of Divinity and earned a Masters of Divinity in 1978 and later upon our return to the states, went back to Harding School of Theology in 1989 and earned a Doctor of Ministry.
I married my dear wife, Rosann in 1957 and we have two sons, Tim and Tom and our “Special Daughter”, Emily. We have nine grandchildren in ages ranging from 2- 38 years old.
After graduating from Harding, I served as the local preacher at various congregations from 1956-1971 and moved to Adelaide, South Australia in 1971 to begin and work with a new congregation there in Adelaide. We remained there until moving back to Dallas in 1980 to become an instructor at the Center of Christian Education until 2005. During my time at the Center of Christian Education, I continued in the mission field with multiple trips to Lithuania and New Zealand. I continued to preach on a regular basis during my time at the Center of
Christian Education serving several churches in the Dallas area, Waco and Henderson Texas as well. I most recently preached at the Carrolton Church of Christ from 2014 to 2023. My mission work from 2006- 2013 includes teaching at the South Pacific Bible College in New Zealand, teaching Australia, Fiji, Cambodia and Vienna Austria. I am currently working with Nations University, an accredited online “school without walls” and teach regularly via Zoom for classes at Cambodia Bible School and Adelaide Australia. “

“I did not grow up attending church though starting college, I did have an interest in learning about the faith and what I needed to do to become a Christian. I took part in a Bible study at Colorado State University and within a few months I was baptized into Christ. My underlying thought was that if this teaching about Christ is true, then the only thing to do is to pursue it as my life’s work. Abilene Christian was the one school I knew of for studying Christianity and to become a minister. So, I transferred to ACU my sophomore year and later finished my undergraduate and graduate degrees.
I served churches in Texas, New Mexico, and Connecticut. I also spent a year in Santiago, Chile doing mission work. After nearly 20 years of teaching and preaching in churches, I returned to university studies at the University of Dallas and earned a masters and a doctoral degree in philosophy. I began teaching at Dallas Christian College and was eventually appointed as V. P. of Academics. After 11 years at DCC, I had a couple of year stint as the Academic Dean at a Classical Christian School. Then in 2004 we moved to Montgomery, Alabama to be a professor for the Great Books Honors College at Faulkner University. There, Carla re-started her career as
an architect for Goodwin, Mills, and Cawood Architectural Firm.
Carla and I have been married for 21 years. She retired last year and I continue to teach for Faulkner University online and I also serve as the Chairman of the Advisory Council for the Center for Christian Studies in Austin. We have four children and five grandchildren. Corey, along with his wife, Kate, and daughters, Ella and Evie, live in The Woodlands, Texas. Richard and his wife Sarah and their son Elijah live nearby in McKinney. Benjamin and his wife, Nicole, and sons, Connor and Wyatt, live in Fairhope, Alabama. Our youngest, Rebekah, teaches English in Tokyo, Japan.”
