Each week we are very blessed by God to have new people come through our doors. I regard them as sent by God as He trusts us with precious souls to save and encourage in their faith. Walnut Hill members do a wonderful job of welcoming and befriending new people, but just like anything else in Christianity, we can always do better.
I ran across an article that listed some simple rules for Christians to follow on Sunday morning to better welcome any guests and visitors.
THE 30-SECOND RULE…
Most guests will make judgments about us during the first 30 seconds after they enter. Greet people at the door with a handshake and smile. “We’re glad you came!”
THE FRONT DOOR RULE…
Many people need help to find their classes or a seat in the auditorium. If they find it difficult to locate a class or a seat, they may choose not to return.
THE TEN-FOOT RULE…
Greet any person with whom you are not familiar who comes within ten feet of you. Make eye contact and be friendly!
THE FIVE MINUTE RULE…
Take the first five minutes after services to seek out guests and greet them. Encourage them to return and thank them for coming.
These little actions will make a BIG difference for God’s kingdom here at Walnut Hill. Treat every new person as a gift from God – sent by Him because He trusts us to help these precious people on their journey to heaven.
