Holding On

Any spiritual wimp can be faithful when everything is going great in life. The evidence of genuine faith is hanging in there during difficult times. That does mean we are rock solid in our faith every single moment of a trial in life; however, it does mean that there is enough faith, even a little faith like that of a mustard seed, to hold on to Jesus.

Sometimes we are not soaring like an eagle in our faith but are more like an overweight turkey barely able to get off the ground. The main thing is that we are holding on and waiting in faith for God to help us to higher ground. James writes, Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance.  And let endurance have its perfect result, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing” (James 1:2-4).

Holding on is not a bad thing in our faith; rather, it means we are hurting but refuse to let go of believing somehow – someway God is going to pull us through.

Read Psalm 27 with special emphasis on Psalm 27:11-14. Then listen to Holding On by Jamie Grace. You will be blessed.

Psalm 27:11-14

Teach me Your way, Lord,
And lead me on a level path
Because of my enemies.
Do not turn me over to the desire of my enemies,
For false witnesses have risen against me,
And the violent witness.
I certainly believed that I would see the goodness of the Lord
In the land of the living.
Wait for the Lord;
Be strong and let your heart take courage;
Yes, wait for the Lord.
