The favorite verse in the bible for many Christians is Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me”. Paul is in prison when he writes this letter. He is suffering unjustly for loving people enough to try to help them come to know and be saved by Jesus. Unfortunately for the God haters, they try to eliminate the very message that will save them by silencing Paul – or so they thought. Paul continues to speak out from prison and knows the Lord Jesus is with him.
When the apostle writes Timothy in his last letter before martyrdom for his faith he speaks of being all alone in prison because everyone had deserted him – but he was not alone – someone was with him – someone you and I know very well. II Timothy 4:16-18 read as follows, “At my first defense no one supported me, but all deserted me; may it not be counted against them. But the Lord stood with me and strengthened me, so that through me the proclamation might be fully accomplished, and that all the Gentiles might hear; and I was rescued out of the lion’s mouth. The Lord will rescue me from every evil deed, and will bring me safely to His heavenly kingdom; to Him be the glory forever and ever. Amen.”
Those who follow Jesus are never alone. Read Philippians 1:12-14,19; 4:10-13. Then listen to There Was Jesus by Zach Williams and Dolly Parton. After that, walk through this day with 100% confidence that Jesus is with you every step of the way.
Philippians 1:12-14
Now I want you to know, brothers and sisters, that my circumstances have turned out for the greater progress of the gospel, so that my imprisonment in the cause of Christ has become well known throughout the praetorian guard and to everyone else, and that most of the brothers and sisters, trusting in the Lord because of my imprisonment, have far more courage to speak the word of God without fear.
Philippians 1:19
for I know that this will turn out for my deliverance through your prayers and the provision of the Spirit of Jesus Christ,
Philippians 4:10-13
But I rejoiced in the Lord greatly, that now at last you have revived your concern for me; indeed, you were concerned before, but you lacked an opportunity to act. Not that I speak from need, for I have learned to be content in whatever circumstances I am. I know how to get along with little, and I also know how to live in prosperity; in any and every circumstance I have learned the secret of being filled and going hungry, both of having abundance and suffering need. I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.
