It
is hard to say “2017” – Wow! What happened to 2016? This year has flown by in record speed. Today we really
do ring – sing – and bring in a new year.
As we look back on last year it is good to take spiritual inventory. It is helpful but it is also sometimes painful to ask a question like, “What have I done this year from previous years that demonstrates that I have grown spiritually?” It’s hard to look in the mirror but it is very necessary. And the truth is we all have changes we still need to make. We all need to grow to become more like Jesus this year. We all need the help and power of the Holy Spirit to help us make the changes we are committed to make.
Thank God that we can repent and get a fresh start. Praise the Lord that He is more concerned about where we are today and tomorrow than He is with where we were yesterday – especially if we’ve learned from our shortcomings.
Let’s get ready to make some big changes in our lives as the eternal, living and active Word of God instructs us and directs our ways. Let’s leave 2016 behind and enter 2017 with a bang!!! Let’s grow like never before.
Hebrews 12:1-2
Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also lay aside every encumbrance and the sTh which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
