“…like newborn babes long for the pure milk of the word, that by it you may grow in respect to your salvation, if you have tasted the kindness of the Lord” (I Peter 2:2-3).
“…for though by this time you ought to be teachers, you have need again for someone to teach you the elementary principles of the oracles of God, and you have come to need milk and not solid foods” (Hebrews 5:12).
Here we have two Biblical passages referring to milk: one good – one not so good. Peter is writing to newer Christians who are excited about their relationship with Jesus Christ. He encourages them to keep moving forward toward spiritual maturity by spending quantity and quality time in the word of God. They have the right kind of attitude regrading spiritual growth. The Hebrew writer is correcting his readers because they have neglected their relationship with God and are spiritually immature for their age.
I encourage you to make 2017 the year you grow in your relationship with God. I exhort you to be present for every Sunday and Wednesday worship and Bible class, so that you can grow in respect to your salvation and follow through in your commitment to Christ.
