“…but if we walk in the light as He Himself is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin” (1 John 1:7).
There are many blessings that come as a result of walking in the light. When our lives are focused on Jesus, and the direction of our lives are pointed toward God and His will for us, we are the richest people in the world. We enjoy a common bond and fellowship with one another. We also can know that we have eternal life (1 John 5:13), and that the blood of Jesus will cleanse us from all our sin.
Many Christians have an easy time believing that the sins they committed before baptism are forgiven. However, many struggle with believing in forgiveness of sins they commit after becoming a Christian. We put a lot of pressure on ourselves to be perfect rather than allowing the perfect Lamb of God to cover our sins. It would be nice if we never sinned after we become children of God but the reality is that as long as we have physical bodies we will fall short of the glory of God. Certainly our desire and attitude is to please God in all things; but when we do sin, we need to approach the throne of grace with confidence.
Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. 15 For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who has been tempted in all things as we are, yet without sin. 16 Therefore let us draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need. (Hebrews 4:14-16).
Walk in the light and enjoy the blessings!
