Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. (Phil. 4:6-7)
Peace is a beautiful experience of serenity and tranquility. When we possess peace in our lives everything is absolutely perfect. We all want to possess peace but too many times we allow worries, conflicts, and troubles to steal it from us.
How can we possess so much peace that it surpasses understanding? How can we be calm in the middle of the storms of life? The answer is to get closer to the One who can calm any storm… Jesus Christ. When we allow God to be in control of our life, He gives us peace as a gift. Peace is a fruit of the Holy Spirit; He lives in us, helping us to be what God created us to be – that includes people who experience peace rather than anxiety and massive turmoil.
The reason many Christians do not possess peace is because we are not close enough to the One who calms the storms. And, we cannot possess peace in troubled waters if we exclude Him from our life when there are no waves. We cannot possess peace if we try to control our own lives. Trying to build a relationship with God during troublesome times is like trying to build a bridge in a hurricane.
Do yourself a BIG favor – draw closer to Christ than you ever have in the past. Stay in constant communication with God throughout the day. Seek counsel in His word daily. The result will be peace beyond understanding.
