Words like loser, failure, defeated, and spiritual wimp do NOT describe us, right?! We’re overcomers, triumphant victors who never give up, right?! We are winning every day, and like Paul, when we get to the end of the road of life we will say, “…I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my departure has come. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith; in the future there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day; and not only to me, but also to all who have loved His appearing” (II Timothy 4:6-8). And, like Paul, we also believe, “If God is for us, who is against us”? (Roman 8:31). Why in the world should we have a “give up” spirit?! Why should we be shaking in our boots when James 2:19 says Satan and the demons are the ones who are shuddering?! Let’s charge forward in this life with the confidence David had when he took on Goliath. We are sick and tired of Satan messing with our minds. We need to apply Paul’s words to Timothy onto ourselves, “For God has not given us a spirit of timidity, but of power and love and discipline” (II Timothy 1:7). Full speed ahead with our (spiritual)guns a blazing. God is on our side, and more importantly, we are on God’s side; consequently, we will not fear or back down because the powerful name of Jesus and the Holy Spirit work in our lives. Read I John 2:13-14; 4:4; 5:4-5; and listen to the song Overcomer by Mandisa. Then charge forward with a beautiful day close to Jesus.
1 John 2:13-14
I am writing to you, fathers, because you know Him who has been from the beginning. I am writing to you, young men, because you have overcome the evil one. I have written to you, children, because you know the Father. I have written to you, fathers, because you know Him who has been from the beginning. I have written to you, young men, because you are strong, and the word of God remains in you, and you have overcome the evil one.
1 John 4:4
You are from God, little children, and have overcome them; because greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world.
1 John 5:4-5
For whoever has been born of God overcomes the world; and this is the victory that has overcome the world: our faith.
Who is the one who overcomes the world, but the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?
