King of Glory

I admit that I tire easily of Christian songs that repeat the same lyrics over and over and over again. It seems shallow and causes me to wonder if the composer of the lyrics was lacking in theological depth and therefore was unable to provide a more complete spiritual message. BUT such is not the case with the song by Third Day entitled King of Glory. See if you can count the number of times in this song the name of Jesus and the word King are called out. I never tire of hearing the name of Jesus. I love to hear the name of Jesus and I love to say His name – JESUS. I smile at the simple little verse in John 12:19 when some Galileans say, “Sir, we wish to see Jesus”. How precious – I want to see Jesus. I love to live for Jesus and be in fellowship with Jesus all day long. Jesus’ name is the most precious name of any name in the history of the world. Paul writes, “…at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those who are in heaven, and on earth, and under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father” (Philippians 2:10-11). I think the intended message of this song is for us to make Jesus the King of our heart from here to eternity. Read Colossians 1:13-20. Then listen to King of Glory by Third Day. Oh yeah, don’t forget to totally turn your life over to the King of glory.

Colossians 1:13-20

For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.

The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy. For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.
