Kids in Bible Class

26-optYears ago an elder and I were visiting with a newer Christian mom after Sunday morning worship. I told her it was very moving to see her so excited in her new life as a child of God. She told us her little children were even more excited than she was to be at the church. She proceeded to tell us, “Anytime we drive by the church building during the week the children beg to stop so they can go to Bible class. And, when I pick up a Bible at home they get excited because they think we’re going to Bible class at church.”

What a beautiful example of how all Christians should feel about Bible class. Worshipping God, studying His word, encouraging other believers should never be drudgery – it should always be something we long for. It should never be neglected but made a top priority in life’s schedule.

The apostle Peter writes, “…Like newborn babes, long for the pure milk of the word, that by it you may grow in respect to your salvation, if you have tasted the kindness of the Lord” (I Peter 2:2-3). It is a privilege and a blessing to study God’s word together.

The psalmist writes, “O how I love Your law! It is my meditation all the day. Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path” (Psalm 119:97, 105).

Imagine a Christian neglecting Bible study on Sunday and Wednesdays?! The only thing more spiritually disturbing is if that same Christian has children and passes on to their precious little souls that God and His word are unimportant. People won’t say that verbally, but they speak with their actions when they treat Bible class and worship as unimportant to them.

We have Bible class teachers and assistants who make sacrifices to provide Bible lessons for your children because they love our children and want them to grow up to be people of faith. I pray that every child here grows up to know and love Jesus Christ. Please make Bible class and our public worship together a top priority for your sake… and the sake of your children.
