“I Would If I Could, But I Can’t”

Many Christians become frustrated because they really want to be more spiritual, but just can’t move forward and grow as they feel they should. Certainly there are those “lukewarm” Christians who don’t care about growing, but I’m writing to those who truly want God’s presence more in their lives, but just can’t get the ball rolling.

There are many biblical answers to this problem, and I would like to briefly zero in on one specifically. Much of the solution is found in one word, ‘CREATION’.

We can learn from the Psalmist as he poured out his heart in Psalm 8. Looking at God’s creation he saw Gods existence and was amazed at the greatness of God. The beauty and design of the moon and stars caused the Psalmist to know God was real and also moved him to subject himself to God in praise.

Go outside and spend some time viewing what God has displayed for you. Take a walk at night and marvel at God’s greatness. Do it often. It is the best prescription to cure the “I would if I could, but I can’t” disease. Take a few minutes to read and dwell on Psalm 8. You will see where the Psalmist’s heart was, and it will help yours!
