I’m sorry _______________(insert your name here), but you should have known better. You should be a better Christian. C’mon now! Is it that hard to follow the teachings of Jesus? What is wrong with you?! You should be ashamed of yourself. Why do you continue to fall short of the glory of God every single day?! What I want you to do is keep your shortcomings in the front of your mind and replay all you do wrong over and over and over and over again. Maybe then you will start to change and live up to your Christian calling. By the way, I need to let you know that you will not be extended any mercy, grace or forgiveness on the judgment day. You are in big trouble when you die Buster (or Bust-her). In fact, I’d like to beat you up right now!
Your guilt-ridden conscience
I am wondering if maybe some of us should listen more to God’s inspired word and less to our uninspired thoughts and emotions? God does not desire to stand over us in judgment. His desire is to forgive and forget and have us move on when we repent (II Peter 3:9). God’s word says we can come boldly (not timidly) to the throne of grace to receive mercy and grace to help in our time of need (Hebrews 4:14-16).
Read I John 1:5-2:2. Then listen to by MercyMe. After that, live in His love and grace rather than in self-loathing and self-condemnation. You’ll live a better Christian life for sure. And that’s all I have to say today !
1 John 1:5-2:2
This is the message we have heard from Him and announce to you, that God is Light, and in Him there is no darkness at all. If we say that we have fellowship with Him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth; but if we walk in the Light as He Himself is in the Light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin. If we say that we have no sin, we are deceiving ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous, so that He will forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar and His word is not in us.
My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous; and He Himself is the propitiation for our sins; and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.
