God Will Take Care of You

Will God actually take care of me in every way? Will He protect me from any and every bad thing? Will God give me everything I ask for as long as I believe? Jesus said, “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. Or what man is there among you who, when his son asks for a loaf, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, he will not give him a snake, will he? If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give what is good to those who ask Him!” (Matthew 7:7-11). And Jesus also said, “And all things you ask in prayer, believing, you shall receive” (Matthew 21:22). Since I believe in Jesus will He make sure I don’t have any financial, physical or emotional problems ever? Can I count on that as a done deal?

Here are some thoughts to the above questions and the interpretation to the above scriptures in brevity. First of all, God is not going to give us heaven on earth – we receive all the blessings (and zero problems) of heaven IN heaven – not in this life. Scripture is brimming with statements about tribulation on earth – read just about any chapter of the New Testament and you’ll see for yourself. Therefore, when we read scriptures like the ones above we need to ask ourselves the question, “Is there more to interpreting these passages than meets the eye”? Secondly, God is never – EVER – going to answer our prayers in opposition to His will and His sovereignty. A simple example would be asking God to fix a flat tire on the getaway car after you rob a bank – not going to happen. Thirdly, God takes care of us and answers our prayers with eternity in mind. Imagine God answering one of our prayers according to OUR will and it changed our eternal destiny whereby we ended up in hell! We have a tendency to see things right in front of our schnozzola – God is always thinking ahead as He helps us get to our final destiny in glory. Fourth, these passages (and similar ones) always take into consideration that we are asking as faithful disciples that want God’s will to occur in all things. So we ask, “If it be your will…” (like Jesus in Matthew 26:39).

There is more to be said but hopefully this helps us see that we need to trust God to take care of us ACCORDING TO HIS WILL because our Father in heaven knows what is best to help get from here to heaven. God definitely will – for sure – no doubt about it – take care of you. Just trust Him – I guarantee you’ll be glad you did. If not completely satisfied when you get to heaven see me for a complete refund.

Memorize I John 5:14 (read, reread and repeat it 10 times and you’ll have it memorized). Then listen to a beautiful a cappella song entitled: God Will Take Care of You.

1 John 5:14

This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.
