“Example-ism” or “E-vample”?

One of the great ways to share Jesus with others is by our Christian lifestyle. We can ‘evangelize by example.’ Jesus said, “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden; nor does anyone light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on the lamp stand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.” (Matthew 5:14-16)

The article below stresses how important it is for us to not only “talk the talk, but walk the walk.”

Was It Worth It?

The young woman was nervous on her first day on the restaurant job, and somehow she mixed up the order for a young couple. The young man was enraged. He sternly reprimanded her and informed her that he just might complain to the management. She went into the back room sobbing.

How impressive this young man felt! He was right in what he did. If she is going to get paid for this kind of work she must be able to do it correctly. At the end of the meal he left a tip of one cent. He knew she would remember him and give him excellent service should he ever eat in that restaurant again.

He went home and pulled out the study guides he intended to use in the home Bible study he was teaching that evening. One of the members in the congregation had set up a study with a new family in town. The young man and the member arrived at the appointed time and were met at the door by the husband. He escorted them into the den to introduce them to his wife. He told them she had endured a difficult day at work. It was her first day and some uncaring customer had totally humiliated her.

A few minutes later, as they walked back to the car, the question was asked, “Was it worth it?”
