One of the richest, untapped, spiritual goldmines for Christians is right in front of us. I am speaking of God’s creation. Everything He created He put on display so we would see His majesty, glory, power, and wisdom.
The Lord could have created the world and had it consist of a long, cement sidewalk with a dark sky overhead. But instead He created spectacular sunrises and sunsets, pretty flowers, gigantic trees, awesome animals, majestic mountains, plush green valleys, gorgeous lakes and rivers, sweet fruit to eat, and much more. God did that so we would see, smell, hear, touch and taste His glorious nature.
David writes, “The heavens are telling of the glory of God” (Psalm 19:1). The apostle Paul writes, “For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities, His eternal power and divine nature have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse” (Romans 1:20).
There is nothing like going outside to pray and walk in what I like to call “The Lord’s living room”. (By the way, I call golf courses “The Lord’s formal living room”.) We don’t see the creation as a god; however, we see THE God who made it all. And that moves us know Him better. It helps us praise Him for who He is and what He has done. And sometimes, when we need to get back on track, or maybe we are flat in our faith, we go for a walk with the Lord, and it’s like the first time we came to know Him and our faith is rejuvenated and revitalized.
