Most of us heed the yellow marker on the floor of the supermarket that reads “Caution – slippery when wet.” That little sign has saved consumers from tragic falls and accidents and has saved supermarkets from lawsuits.
Wouldn’t it be nice if the devil helped us out by placing some warning signs in the various aisles of sin? Instead of making sin look so good, wouldn’t the devil be a ‘swell’ guy if he told us the truth about the snare and the ultimate doom of sin.
God says, “Be self controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour” (1 Peter 5:8). In Ephesians He says, “Put on the full armor of God, that you may be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil” (Ephesians 6:11).
Christians should be on the alert and prepared. Christians know it is “slippery when wet”, but they also know that, in fighting sin, you have to be careful always because it can be slippery when it appears dry.
