My devotional from yesterday moved me deeper into the biblical theme of “our citizenship is in heaven”. In case you forgot: “For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ; who will transform the body of our lowly condition into conformity with His glorious body, by the exertion of the power that He has even to subject all things to Himself”. (Philippians 3:20-21).
No more sickness, no more disease, no more Covid-19, no hardships, no stress, no anxiety, no depression, no tears, no conflicts, no politics, no death – everything will be perfect. We will have constant joy and peace in the presence of our glorious God and Savior, Jesus Christ. We will live forever. What a day that will be!
Here are the lyrics to the song:
There is coming a day, When no heart aches shall come, No more clouds in the sky, No more tears to dim the eye.
All is peace forever more, On that happy golden shore,
What a day, glorious day that will be.
There’ll be no sorrow there, No more burdens to bear, No more sickness, no pain, No more parting over there;
And forever I will be, With the One who died for me,
What a day, glorious day that will be.
Chorus
What a day that will be, When my Jesus I shall see,
And I look upon His face, The One who saved me by His grace;
When He takes me by the hand, And leads me through the Promised Land,
What a day, glorious day that will be.
Read Revelation 21:1-7; 22:1-5. Then listen to What a Day that Will Be by Kaoma Chende.
Revelation 21:1-7
Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth; for the first heaven and the first earth passed away, and there is no longer any sea. And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne, saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is among the people, and He will dwell among them, and they shall be His people, and God Himself will be among them, and He will wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there will no longer be any death; there will no longer be any mourning, or crying, or pain; the first things have passed away.”
And He who sits on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.” And He *said, “Write, for these words are faithful and true.” Then He said to me, “It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give water to the one who thirsts from the spring of the water of life, without cost. The one who overcomes will inherit these things, and I will be his God and he will be My son.
