Are you depressed, oppressed, sad, mad, rejected, scared, dissatisfied, unfulfilled, empty, lonely, regretful, fretful, ashamed, guilty, hopeless, joyless, anxious, worried, nervous, stressed, exasperated, grieving?
Have you tried money, possessions, entertainment, self- help, drugs, alcohol, pornography, sex, career, job, business, success, shopping, clothing, food, hunting, fishing, golf, politics, people, internet, television, movies, music, exercise, laziness, selfishness, self-righteousness, self-sufficiency? Have you tried these things and found that lasting peace and joy still evade you?
God has the solution to the abundant life that has fulfillment, joy, and peace; it is found in His word and in His Son. You will not find the joy-filled meaning of life in man’s temporary, empty, failing solutions. The cure is Christ – the remedy is the Redeemer.
Why would anyone keep trying to find the meaning and joy of life in anything and everything other than God? Why would anyone resist committing themselves to Sunday and Wednesday Bible class? Why are some apathetic and unconvinced that Biblical worship can give meaning to their life and make them what they were created to be? Who tempts us to think like that?
Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice! Let your gentle spirit be known to all men. The Lord is near. Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made know to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things.
Not that I speak from want, for I have learned to be content in whatever circumstances I am. I know how to get along with humble means, and I also know how to live in prosperity; in any and every circumstance I have learned the secret of being filled and going hungry, both of having abundance and suffering need. I can do all things through Him who strengthens me. (Philippians 4:4-8,11-13).
