Never Surrender

Do you ever have days, weeks or months when you get so down on yourself for failing to live for Jesus the way you know you should that you think about giving up? You really don’t want to give up but you are just so tired of falling short of God’s word over and over again that you feel like it’s useless. The fact is those who are spiritually sensitive to live for Jesus have good and bad days – but they don’t give up; rather, they continue to do self-examination and take spiritual inventory and pray for God’s Holy Spirit to help them keep changing (II Corinthians 13:5).

There are good and bad kinds of surrender. Bad surrender is when we get so disappointed in ourselves we give up and walk away from our relationship with Jesus. That’s bad and very unnecessary because God is the God of second-third-fourth-fifth-70 X 7 chances. The good Lord prefers we surrender the good way. In Luke 9:23 Jesus says, “If anyone wishes to come after Me, let him deny Himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me”. Every day we start over and say to ourselves and to Jesus, “Today is the day I am going to die to myself like never before and surrender to following You”. It sounds impossible BUT if you make it a habit for 30 days you’ll be hooked on surrendering to Jesus daily. You’ll also know that the blood of Jesus is washing away your sins as you follow Him.

Read I John 1:6-2:2, Google and read the poem: Don’t Quit. Then listen to Never Surrender by Skillet.

If we say that we have fellowship with Him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth; but if we walk in the Light as He Himself is in the Light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin. If we say that we have no sin, we are deceiving ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous, so that He will forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar and His word is not in us.

My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous; and He Himself is the propitiation for our sins; and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.
