In the past few months I have become increasingly aware of the fact that the devil is an active snake in the grass, trying to keep or drag people out of a relationship with God in Christ. We must not underestimate the power or be unaware of the game plan of Satan. He will go to any length and measure to destroy our souls. His mission is to drag as many of us as possible with him into the fires of hell. Do not be deceived – there is a battle going on over our souls – a battle between the flesh and the Spirit – a battle over where you and I will spend eternity.
In the past few months I have also become increasingly aware of the power of the Holy Spirit to work in our lives to help us become more like Jesus. I am increasingly confident in the powerful name of Jesus Christ in prayer to fight the devil. The name of Jesus to the devil is like kryptonite to Superman. The powerful name of Jesus in prayer against Satan is like holding up a cross to a vampire.
We must be aware of the battle over our souls. Those who live day to day with no thought of the spiritual warfare over their souls are easy prey for the ”lion” (1 Peter 5:8). Paul writes, “Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might. Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore, take up the full armor of God, so that you will be able to resist in the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm. Stand firm therefore, HAVING GIRDED YOUR LOINS WITH TRUTH, and HAVING PUT ON THE BREASTPLATE OF RIGHTEOUSNESS, and having shod YOUR FEET WITH THE PREPARATION OF THE GOSPEL OF PEACE; in addition to all, taking up the shield of faith with which you will be able extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. And take THE HELMET OF SALVATION, and sword of the spirit, which is the word of God. Will all prayer and petition pray at all times in the Spirit.” (Ephesians 6:10-18a).
Satan is a robber because he steals joy from Christians. He is a liar – he is a murderer – he is a deceiver – his name means accuser because after he tempts us into sin he accuses us before God as guilty. Open your spiritual eyes – put on your spiritual glasses – then call on the powerful name of Jesus to cast Satan out of every area of you life so you can have a more beautiful relationship with God in Christ now and in eternity.
