The greatest physical gift we receive from God is family. Mom, dad, grandma, grandpa, children, spouse, brother, sister – are all gifts from God as we travel through life. There are many special sayings about family like: There’s no place like home, and home is where the heart is. I really like this one: Children are a poor man’s riches. Ain’t that the truth! When we become Christians we put Jesus first in our lives above all other relationships and we serve Him as Lord. And the first thing Jesus is going to ask us to do is love and honor our family. It’s easy in our culture to get caught up in work, school, etc. and neglect family. We need to ask God to help us keep our priorities straight. Read Exod. 20:12; Josh. 24:15; Proverbs 31:15-17; and especially Psalm 127:3-5. Then listen to Jeremy Camp’s song entitled: Keep Me in the Moment.
Psalm 127:3-5
Behold, children are a gift of the Lord,
The fruit of the womb is a reward.
Like arrows in the hand of a warrior,
So are the children of one’s youth.
Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them;
They will not be ashamed
When they speak with their enemies in the gate.
