“For the love of Christ controls us...”
2 Corinthians 5:14
These words of Paul shape my own ministry; because Jesus first loved me, I must help others come to know Him and become like Him. After spending the early part of my life “living in the world”, I put my faith, trust, and devotion in Jesus Christ as my Savior and Lord at the age of 27. I immediately began pursuing an education in Bible, so I could help people like me come to know Christ. In 1984, I graduated from the Center for Christian Education in Bible. Then, in 2002, I earned a bachelor’s degree in Ministry and Leadership from Dallas Christian College. I’ve done work on my Master’s degree in Bible and Ministry from Lubbock Christian University. I love teaching and preaching the love of God. I love watching the word of God and the Spirit of God transform lives as people become Christians and grow up to be mature disciples of Christ. Besides serving the Lord at Walnut Hill, I have been involved in our mission work in Cambodia with Sokhom Hun since 2009, having made over 20 trips to Cambodia to share the Good News of Jesus in remote villages with some of the most precious people on earth.
My wife, Libby, and I have four precious children and 13 really precious grandchildren. We have certainly been blessed with all of them living in the Metroplex. Libby and I enjoy going on dates (movies, Mexican restaurants, Wal-Mart!, etc). I also have awesome bird dogs for quail hunting in west Texas with my sons and Christian friends.
God has blessed us richly by guiding us to a great church like Walnut Hill. We are in our 23rd year and see even greater days ahead. Walnut Hill is not so big that one would get lost in the shuffle and yet big enough to provide all those things important to individuals and families searching for a meaningful, relevant church family.

Minister of Involvement & Family
Hai and Valerie have been in ministry for many years. They have a passion and mission to serve God and his people. They are dedicated to help people grow in their relationship, commitment, and service to God. Hai’s calling to ministry started in 1993 at the Altamesa Church of Christ in Fort Worth where he served as Youth Minister for ten years. While at Altamesa, Hai attended the Brown Trail School of Preaching (1993-1995) because he wanted a formal biblical education in addition to his secular degree. In 2003, Hai became the Youth and Family Minister at the Webb Chapel Church of Christ where he served for 15 years. God led the Cao family to the GracePlace Church of Christ from 2019-2021.
Valerie grew up as a preacher’s kid. She grew up doing ministry, serving alongside her father, Henry Ronconcio. Valerie is a gifted and experienced teacher for all ages, from young people to adults. She loves to write and teach about Jesus.
Hai and Valerie have four children that can often be found working together as a ministry family. Mailee is a Junior at the University of North Texas where she is pursuing a degree in Early Childhood Education. Tamiah is a Senior at Creekview High School. Daniel is a Junior at the Early College High School. And, Joshua is in the first grade at Stark.
Their desire is that we all experience life in the abundant love of Jesus Christ.

I began attending the Walnut Hill Church of Christ in July of 2005 when I married Lyn Wood, one of the Walnut Hill members. He impressed me with his service to God and his Christian values. Together we have five children, a daughter-in-law, 2 son-in-laws and 7 wonderful grandchildren. Lyn and I both teach Bible classes and help with many outreach ministries. We love our church family and are encouraged daily by their devotion to God and their fellowship.
I graduated from York College in 1979 and worked as a secretary for Oklahoma Christian University in the early 1980’s. After moving from Oklahoma I offered child care out of my home until my children started school and then took a position with the public school system in Ottumwa, Iowa. I was a teacher’s assistant in the Special Education Dept. for 15 years.
I began working as the Walnut Hill Administrative Secretary August of 2008. It has been a thrill to be given the opportunity to serve in this capacity.
Growing up in small towns most of my life I was very grateful for the warm welcome I received at Walnut Hill. The huge Metroplex of Dallas was an intimidating place at first but I always felt at home when I walked through the doors of Walnut Hill.
