You cannot beat the worshipful atmosphere a Christian hymn produces when it is sung A Cappella. You will love the song today. It is so beautifully sung with beautiful four-part harmony with beautiful lyrics written by Thomas Chisholm almost 100 years ago. Some songs are timeless and this is one of them. Christians sang this song with tears in their eyes in 1935 and Christians will be spiritually and emotionally moved singing this song until Jesus comes to take us home.
Oh my, do we need God’s presence! We need His salvation. We need His Holy Spirit to live in us. We need the Lord to be with us every step of the way. In good times and in bad life is better if we ask Him to be with us as we walk by faith following Jesus our Savior and Lord. Like the song says, “Be with me, Lord, I cannot live without Thee, I dare not try to take one step alone, I cannot bear the loads of life, unaided, I need Thy strength to lean myself upon”. I don’t want to be out there in this world by myself without the Lord – EVER!
We especially need the Lord to be with us as we exit this life and enter eternal glory. Most people take for granted that they can live anyway they want to live on this earth and when this life is over there must be some god somewhere who will deliver them. It’s like throwing something up against the wall and hoping it sticks, or taking a half-court shot as the clock runs out. How about we admit that we need God now, and we need God when this life is over, and we show it by the way we pray to the Lord and live for the Lord in the here and now!
“Be with me, Lord, when loneliness overtakes me. When I must weep amid the fires of pain.
And when shall come the hour of my departure for worlds unknown, O Lord, be with me then”.
Want to do yourself a favor today? Ask the Lord to be with you all day long. Stay close to Him because the truth is we need Him, and as we grow in faith we realize we want Him to be with us every step of the way from here to heaven.
Read John 6:35-40,60-69. Then listen to Be with Me Lord.
John 6:35-40
Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; the one who comes to Me will not be hungry, and the one who believes in Me will never be thirsty. But I said to you that you have indeed seen Me, and yet you do not believe. Everything that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I certainly will not cast out. For I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me. And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that of everything that He has given Me I will lose nothing, but will raise it up on the last day. For this is the will of My Father, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him will have eternal life, and I Myself will raise him up on the last day.”
